Ja’Maury started getting reading help two years ago.  His mother, Alfreda, says his Language Arts grades improved and he has a love for reading that didn’t exist before.  She saw the impact of the program and became a volunteer tutor herself.

Financial Stability

James Tidmore was homeless.  He found the homeless shelter in Myrtle Beach and started right away in its back-to-work program.  Within months, James had a full-time job and a place to call home.  He now volunteers at the shelter..




Linda Jones learned she had cancer at Horry County’s all-volunteer medical clinic.  The clinic referred her to MUSC, where she had a hysterectomy and will continue treatment.  Linda doesn’t have insurance and wouldn’t have known she had cancer if it wasn’t for the clinic.
