Community and corporate donations to United Way of Horry County make it possible for the organization to invest resources toward our community’s most pressing issues. For the 2020 – 2021 Campaign Year, United Way of Horry County allocated more than $805,000 to our partners in the community that focus on issues related to our three impact areas, health, education, and financial stability.

Your dollars contribute to building and strengthening our county by supporting local needs most prevalent in our area. United Way of Horry County invests in partners and programs that have the greatest impact on the community. In addition, the supported organizations are better equipped to pursue and obtain private and other grant funding, a big plus for making additional impact in our county.
A 21-member Board of Directors, composed of responsible, local citizens from all walks of life, volunteers its time and expertise to direct the operations of United Way of Horry County. Local non-profit organizations apply to our Community Investment Committee, also made up of locals, in the spring. The committee carefully reviews each organization’s programs, budget, financial statements, stewardship, etc. The volunteers make funding recommendations for approved organizations to the Board of Directors, which makes the final decision. Special care is taken to ensure every dollar is maximized.
