Board of Directors

United Way of Horry County’s Board of Directors plays a critical role in setting the organization’s strategic direction and provide strict oversight of all of the organization’s operations. The Board is comprised of local residents of Horry County from a diverse background who are committed to fulfill UWHC mission and vision.

2026 Board Chair – Alicia Thompson

Alicia Thompson is partner with Mullen Wylie SC, LLC, a local Myrtle Beach law firm that focuses on community association representation and construction defect litigation.  She has practiced in the Grand Strand area since her graduation from Tulane University Law School. Alicia also attended Penn State University for her undergraduate studies, earning B.A. in history with distinction. She is licensed to practice in South Carolina, Georgia and before the South Carolina United District Courts and the Fourth Circuit.

Alicia believes that service to the community is important and gives her time as United Way of Horry County board member and HGTC Foundation board member. She also previously served on the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the Myrtle Beach Red Cross Board of Directors, and the Workforce Housing Committee and Library Advisory Board for the City of Myrtle Beach.

Alicia is married to Greg Thompson and they have three children, Trevor, Eleanor, and Lillian.  They are parishioners of St. Andrews Catholic Church and spend their free time cheering on the Coastal Carolina University chanticleers, boating, and traveling for fun and to compete in the children’s activities.
