United Way of Horry County (UWHC) values the trust donors and other stakeholders place in the organization and adheres to the highest standards in gathering, using, and safeguarding personal information. The information collected from donors and stakeholders may be used for pledge processing and communications, including, but not limited to email, mail, phone, or fax.
Sharing Personal Information
Relationships with UWHC are voluntary and confidential. Personal information is gathered directly from either UWHC’s website, pledge form, or volunteer form requesting personal information, including address, email, birthdate, etc.
Donors and stakeholders may choose to opt-out of being listed in any printed materials and remain anonymous as indicated on the pledge form or by notifying UWHC. Donors and stakeholders may opt-out of receiving email correspondence at any time by contacting the UWHC office or by following the unsubscribe instructions within the emails.
UWHC will not rent, trade, sell or share personal information without donor or stakeholder consent.
Securing Personal Information
Privacy and security of personal information is very important to UWHC. By using high-grade encryption and https security protocol (SSL) for the giving website and database, UWHC ensures the safety and security of personal information and giving history. This method is the industry standard protocol, which makes it difficult for anyone outside of the United Way to intercept the data being gathered via its website. Firewalls prevent outside unauthorized parties from accessing United Way’s internal database. Internal access to the database is restricted to authorized United Way employees only.
Security scans of UWHC website are performed monthly and potential threats to the firewall are monitored daily to make sure personal information is protected.
