Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
United Way of Horry County fights for the health, education, and financial stability of every person in our community.
Anti-Racism & Ethnic Discrimination Statement & Principles
United Way of Horry County recognizes that every person brings a unique perspective and experience to advance our mission and our work for the education, health, and financial stability of every person in every community that we serve. We also recognize that structural racism, ethnic discrimination, and other forms of oppression have contributed to racial disparities that have existed in the past and persist in the present. We unequivocally denounce racism and ethnic discrimination because it undermines the well-being and vitality of our community.
Our United Way Network seeks to dismantle disparities and strives to engage residents and community members, especially those whose voices have traditionally been marginalized, in the shared work of fortifying and empowering all people in our community.
We work with public and private partners to co-create solutions that ensure everyone has the resources, support, opportunities and networks they need to thrive. We commit to leveraging all of our assets (e.g., convening, strategic investments, awareness building, advocacy) to create more equitable community.

Diversity Statement
Since its founding in 1973, United Way of Horry County has fought for the health, education, and financial stability of every person in our community no matter their identity, experience or background. We believe that being an inclusive organization and bringing diverse individuals together allows us to more equitably address the issues that face our community. We improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of our communities and this is most effectively accomplished when we are inclusive of all and value the unique perspectives a diverse base of agencies, volunteers, partners, employees, and board members bring to this invaluable work.
Diversity and inclusion are at the heart of what it means to LIVE UNITED.
