United, We Do More

United Way of Horry County brings our community together to break down barriers, meet urgent needs, and create opportunities so everyone can live their best possible life.
Health

Healthy Community

Improving Health and Wellbeing for all
We’re working toward a future where behavioral health needs are recognized, validated, and supported. By partnering with local organizations, we expand access to nutritious food, quality healthcare, and essential services so every person has the chance to thrive.

Youth Opportunity

Helping Every Child Succeed
From the first day of kindergarten to high school graduation, every child deserves the tools and support to reach their potential. Together with families, schools, and community partners, we’re creating pathways for children and youth to learn, achieve, and succeed.

Financial Security

Building Financial Stability and Strength
We envision a Horry County where every individual has the resources to build selfsufficiency. By supporting access to quality housing, career opportunities, and financial tools, we’re helping families move from surviving to thriving.

Community Resiliency

Creating a Stronger, More Resilient Community
Everyone deserves the security of knowing their basic needs will be met. Through collaboration, we work to ensure access to food, shelter, clothing, transportation, and healthcare — building a community that can respond to today’s challenges and prepare for tomorrow.

Every family needs a safe place to live and food on the table.

But the rising cost of these basics is putting added pressure on household budgets. Between 2007 and 2024, housing costs in the U.S. nearly doubled while food costs rose 38%.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) measures price changes across a broad range of goods and services. The ALICE Essentials Index focuses just on the basics families need every day. Because housing and food make up the largest portions of the Index, they are also the biggest drivers of its increase.

Better data helps communities understand where pressures are greatest — and where solutions can have the biggest impact.
