Understanding ALICE. Aligning Solutions. Strengthening Our Community.

The 2026 State of Our Families brings together community leaders, partners, and residents to take a closer look at the financial realities facing families across Horry County.

This event will introduce ALICE—Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed households. ALICE represents hardworking individuals and families who earn above the federal poverty level but still struggle to afford basic necessities such as housing, childcare, food, transportation, and healthcare.

In addition, this event marks the public rollout of United Way Horry County’s updated Community Game Plan—a strategic roadmap that outlines clear, data-driven actions to address the challenges ALICE households face and to strengthen pathways to stability and opportunity throughout our community.

Attendees will gain insight into local data, learn about emerging strategies, and explore how collective action can drive meaningful change for families across Horry County.
