Horry County School District and United Way of Horry County have partnered together to coordinate a program that gives students in need, one-on-one attention to advance their progress in a subject where they’re falling behind. This could be reading, math, behavior, etc.
Volunteers will be matched with a student and will meet once a week during school hours. A weekly, 30-45 minute time will be coordinated through the school’s instructional coach. We hope over time the student and the mentor develop a positive and progressive relationship. This session volunteers will serve Daisy, Lakewood, Loris, and Socastee Elementary schools.
For more information, contact Katie Dwulet or call 843-347-5195.
If you participated as a volunteer in the fall or spring Session, please register for your school again so we know you would like to continue as a volunteer.
If you haven’t volunteered with United to Read or United to Learn before you will need to complete your background check through Horry County Schools.
