VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Volunteers Needed!
The Voluntary Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is a free service offered by United Way of Horry County. This program provides free tax preparation and electronic filing services to Horry County residents who earn $56,000 or less annually.
United Way of Horry County recruits and trains community volunteers to receive IRS tax certification. These volunteers staff the VITA sites to assist residents with program eligibility and determine if filers qualify for tax credits such as the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and the Child and Dependent Care Credit. Typically, UWHC’s VITA program prepares and files over 750 tax returns. Volunteers are needed to help at three VITA sites, and we’re hoping to add a fourth location in North Myrtle Beach.
Volunteer positions include Greeters, Screeners, and Tax Preparers. If you are interested in being a VITA volunteer, find additional information and sign up here.
Camp United Impact Report
This summer was the launch of Camp United, a summer learning program focused on improving the math and literacy scores of local students.
With little access to childcare and no summer educational curriculum for 1st & 2nd graders, UWHC partnered with Horry County Schools to host Camp United at Loris Elementary School. Read our full Camp United Impact Report.
