Conway, SC (May 29, 2024) – United Way of Horry County is proud to announce the launch of Operation Preparation, the inaugural Community Baby Basics Shower, generously sponsored by Elliott Beach Rentals. This collaborative drive will collect vital baby essentials that will be paired with The Basics – an evidence-based, science-driven program laying the foundation for early childhood development. Together, they pave the way for infants and families, fostering a united approach toward kindergarten readiness.
Why It Matters:
80% of brain growth occurs in the first three years of a child’s life. Ensuring that parents have access to the basic supplies needed for raising a newborn is crucial in fostering early development. By contributing to Operation Preparation, you can help alleviate some of the stress parents face and provide a brighter future for the youngest members of our community.
Event Details:
Join us from June 3-14 in collecting vital baby items at over 20 convenient drop-off locations throughout Horry County. We are seeking donations of:
- Diapers (sizes NB-7)
- Wipes
- Hardback baby books
All donated items will be included with a Basics kit, which features:
- Five new books tied to the Basics Principles
- Access to sign up for Basics Insights Text Messaging
- Activities and instructions for fun learning for caregivers and children
How You Can Help:
In addition to donating items, you can also contribute financially. A $30 donation covers the cost of one pack for one child, including supplies and a Basics kit. Your generosity will directly impact local families in Horry County. Together, we can ensure that every newborn in our community gets a healthy, happy start in life.
