Day of Caring – Finklea Community Center
Our annual Day of Caring will be on Friday, October 21, 2022, at Finklea Alumni Community Center.
Finklea Alumni Community Center (FACC) is located at 3501 SC-917, Loris, SC 29569, and hosts Finklea Family After School Team (FFAST), the area’s only free afterschool program for youth ages 4 to 18. The program offers academic, social/emotional, recreation, and enrichment services. Adult education services are provided during program hours for parents, young adults, and community members. FACC also hosts community food distributions, household goods distributions, and health programs.
FACC serves some of the most underserved communities in Horry County and is an excellent way for us to give back this year.
Volunteer registration is preferred in advance and will include breakfast, lunch, and a t-shirt. *Selected t-shirt size is only guaranteed if registration is completed before September 16.*

2022/2023 Campaign Update
We kicked off our annual fundraising campaign on August 15 at Coastal Carolina University. The room was filled with supporters, business leaders, and UWHC board members to celebrate the campaign’s kickoff and learn about UWHC’s new Game Plan to impact the most critical issues in our community. The event was sponsored by South Atlantic Bank and supported by Coastal Carolina University.
The morning celebrated our Community Champions and recognized our pace setters (local businesses who agree to begin their campaigns early to help kick start the giving in the community). This year our pace setters are Coastal Carolina National Bank, First Citizens Bank, First Palmetto Bank, Grand Strand Water and Sewer Authority, Peoples Underwriters, City of North Myrtle Beach, Spann Roofing, and The Jackson Companies.
We are excited to kick off this year’s campaign with an amazing amount of community support. The donations from the campaign will be used to strengthen the health, education, and self-sufficiency of everyone in our community.
